Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang History
Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang translates as Drive Out Stasis in the Mansion of Blood Decoction was formulated almost two thousand years ago by Wang Qing-Ren in order to restore and improve blood circulation. Influenced by Western medical concepts, Wang attempted to correct the mistakes in traditional Chinese medical theory. He performed postmortem dissections that led him to the mistaken belief that the chest cavity was an organ filled with blood. Wang then named this formula after the chest cavity he referred to as the “mansion of blood.” Despite Wang’s error, this formula is still effective today for a variety of conditions involving abnormal blood flow.
